Summary:
In the fairytale kingdom of Empyrean, time has moved on. The princesses of once upon a time, like Snow White and Cinderella, have grown old and become great queens. Now, their kingdom is in danger. A Forgotten Evil has returned. In a small village by the sea, two sisters, Zandria and Olena, begin a dangerous journey for Zandria to claim her birthright as a queen. Along their journey, they meet some unique friends and terrifying enemies while trying to survive places like the Dead Forest and escape troll-infested castles. Will they make it to the Crystal Castle in time to save Empyrean or will the sisters lose each other forever? One thing is certain, before their journey ends, Zandria will learn what it means to be The Fourth Queen.
Jaymes’s Review:
Mark Miller has added his own unique spin on the fairytales of Snow White and Cinderella in The Empyrical Tales Book 1: The Fourth Queen.
The story is filled with information about the Forgotten Evil, the four queens, and the myriad of beings involved. The core of the story is about Zandria and Olena, one of whom will be the Fourth Queen. Their journey from their home in the East Kingdom to the Crystal Castle is fraught with ups and downs. Along the way they gather a small band to help them reach the castle. Battles rage, evil attempts to return, and one little girl becomes the Fourth Queen.
The Fourth Queen is a really good beginning to a captivating series. Zandria and Olena are young girls who you want to see reach their happy ending. But I have a feeling it won’t be an easy journey based on the events in this first book. I enjoyed Mr. Miller’s reworking of the fairytales. The Fourth Queen was intriguing and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Rated 3 ½ Sea Shells by Jaymes!
